Next-gen Mazda 3 coming for 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show

KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda appears to work really hard on its crossover lineup, and as a result, we have had the facelifted versions of the CX-5 and CX-9 revealed. However, the company is slowly shifting its focus back to the smaller cars and this time around, it is the Mazda 3. This new generation model has been announced and will be debuted soon.

The fourth generation of the Mazda 3 will most probably be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2018. However, the company did release a teaser video of the car (hatchback) that shows the tail section. By the look at it, the new generation model will take the automaker to a new era.

Besides just this, there are even chances that the company may include the SkyActiv-X gasoline engine in the setup. The unique thing about this engine is that it will be the first engine in the world to run without the use of a spark plug. This is done to provide better fuel efficiency and engine response, similar to that of a diesel engine. However, the emission would be on the lower side while keeping the high power of a petrol engine intact. However, the company hasn’t mentioned any of the details and specifications yet.

Looking at the teaser, one can easily say that it has been kept very much faithful to the Kai concept that was displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. The rounded design of the tailgate is combined with the sharp angle of the windshield, a setting seen on the concept model.

Even the patent images of the Mazda 3 sedan has surfaced just a week back. And considering this sketch, the same Kai concept has a big say in the car, especially for the front section. And since both the hatchback and sedan have the same front fascia, we can now have a clear idea of how the hatchback will actually look like.
