Perodua’s first EV coming soon; here’s what to expect
KUALA LUMPUR: As the global automotive industry continues to embrace electrification, Malaysian automakers are keeping pace with global trends. While Proton has already been making waves with its electric cars, the e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 5, Perodua is gearing up to introduce its first EV.

As per the reports, the upcoming Perodua EV will be called the QV-E.The Perodua EV is one of the most anticipated models set to launch in Malaysia by the end of December, but now it seems the debut could happen sooner than expected.
During a recently held engagement session with Perodua staff at Perodua HQ, Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced that Perodua will unveil its first-ever electric vehicle by the end of November.
Perodua has been working on its first electric vehicle for quite some time. The journey began with the preview of the eM-O concept in 2023, followed by the eMO-I and eMO-II versions in 2024. The final prototype was showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in the form of the eMO.
Perodua EV: What to expect
- The upcoming Perodua EV appears bold and futuristic in prototype forms, featuring sharp angles and sleek curves. We can expect LED headlights and tail lights, a high ground clearance and large 18-inch wheels.
- The EV is expected to come equipped with an LFP battery pack sourced from CATL (likely to be a 52.5 kWh unit), offering a range of 400 to 410 km on a single charge. Initially, the automaker will import motor, inverter, and battery, with plans to localise them later.
- As for charging, it will support both AC and DC charging power. With the help of an AC unit, the battery will juice up fully in approximately 8 eight hours. However, the DC charging is expected to do a 30-80% job in 30 minutes.
- Inside, we can expect sleek displays for the digital instrument cluster and central head unit and other creature comforts such as powered front seats, an automatic air-conditioning unit, and a rearview camera.
- The EV may also get advanced driver-assistance systems to protect both occupants and other road users.
