During a recently held engagement session with Perodua staff at Perodua HQ, Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced that Perodua will unveil its first-ever electric vehicle by the end of November.

Perodua has been working on its first electric vehicle for quite some time. The journey began with the preview of the eM-O concept in 2023, followed by the eMO-I and eMO-II versions in 2024. The final prototype was showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in the form of the eMO.

    Perodua EV: What to expect

    • The upcoming Perodua EV appears bold and futuristic in prototype forms, featuring sharp angles and sleek curves. We can expect LED headlights and tail lights, a high ground clearance and large 18-inch wheels.
    • The EV is expected to come equipped with an LFP battery pack sourced from CATL (likely to be a 52.5 kWh unit), offering a range of 400 to 410 km on a single charge. Initially, the automaker will import motor, inverter, and battery, with plans to localise them later.
    • As for charging, it will support both AC and DC charging power. With the help of an AC unit, the battery will juice up fully in approximately 8 eight hours. However, the DC charging is expected to do a 30-80% job in 30 minutes.

    • The EV may also get advanced driver-assistance systems to protect both occupants and other road users.
