Perodua QV-E teased; new EV-dedicated page now live
KUALA LUMPUR: While Proton has taken the lead in the EV game with its two EVs (e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 5), Perodua is not far behind. P2 has started the teaser campaign for its first-ever electric vehicle, which is touted as Malaysia’s first home-grown EV.

The automaker has used dark lighting to conceal the EV’s front design; however, the sharp-eyed can read its plate number, which mentions the QV-E wordmark.

Perodua has also set up a new EV-dedicated page on its official website, where the automaker has shared the teaser of the upcoming EV along with the indication for more information to be unveiled soon. “From the hands of Malaysians comes the power to move Malaysia,” the caption reads.
With that said, the Perodua QV-E is designed and developed in-house by Perodua, unlike the Proton e.MAS EVs, which are rebadged Geely models. The company holds all the intellectual property rights for the EV’s design and platform.

- The prototype versions and the new teaser give hints about the bold and futuristic design of the vehicle, featuring sharp angles and sleek curves. It is likely to come equipped with LED headlights and tail lights, a high ground clearance and 18-inch wheels.
- As for battery setup, the Peroduca EV will feature a LFP battery pack sourced from CATL (likely to be a 52.5 kWh unit), providing a driving range of 400 to 410 km on a single charge.
- It will support both AC and DC charging power; the latter will replenish 30 to 80% battery in just 30 minutes.
