Raize Crossover not coming to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The compact crossover from Toyota, Raize that in Nov went on sale in Japan sees no possibility of being launched in Malaysia. With Proton X50 being the hot topic in Malaysia and Perodua cornering the compact vehicle segment with its Aruz, there seems Raize will not be launched and sold in Malaysia.

Raize caters to the desires of the customer who want to drive an SUV that measures less than four metres in length. It has been developed with the vision of being an active, useful and compact car and also allows lots of luggage space to its users.

Being the first compact car produced by Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Raize features the next generation car making platform DNGA. Every aspect of the car, including its platform and powertrain, have been developed with an aim to reach outstanding levels of driving performance.

The vehicle features a highly rigid body which is developed to be light-weight, combined with a 1.0-litre D-CVT turbo engine. The suspension of the car contributes to its efficient handling stability and ride comfort. Moreover, the engine used in the Raize hs been used in a Toyota vehicle for the first time.

The Raize comes equipped with 17-inch tires which provide stable control to the SUV. The gear ratio range has been expanded and split gears have been added to the existing CVT belt drives to provide improved transmission and fuel efficiency with smooth acceleration at slow speeds.

This compact SUV makes for a luggage efficient car by having a 369-litre luggage capacity, which can be further increased by folding the rear seats. The car comes equipped with the latest Smart Assist safety features.

The Malaysian market may not be able to witness Raize in their markets unless it comes rebadged under a different name as a Perodua.
