Renault Captur gets an update and a special edition variant

KUALA LUMPUR: Renault Captur, Europe's best-selling crossover received a facelift in mid-2018, and now the car gets a few more revisions. It seems like the French automaker wants to keep its car updated on every front, be it tech or environment protection. Included in the list of revisions is also a new trim, called the Captur+ Special Edition.

Starting with under the hood configuration, the Captur’s 1.2-litre TCe 120 turbocharged four-cylinder mill is now Euro 6 compliant, thus reducing the emission substantially. The engine now produces 120 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque that’s around 15 Nm more compared to the previous Captur specs sheet. The fuel consumption figure now stands at 16.9 kmpl in the NEDC cycle. The power is sent to the wheels via 6-speed Efficient Dual Clutch automatic gearbox.

Inside the cabin, the crossover gets a few updations for its 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The unit now supports internet connectivity along with online and offline navigation. Also, when connected to the internet, the system can support apps like Joox and Waze. Further, adding to the car’s convenience factor is the auto start-stop button.

TC Euro Cars, the official distributor of Renault, is also offering Captur+ Special Edition trim that comes with a booster kit. Making it look distinct from the standard model are features like - two-tone front and rear bumper, kicking plates with ‘CAPTUR’ emblazoned on it, and maroon combination leather seats. Apart from the styling elements, this special edition also brings along utility features like a hands-free power tailgate, front armrest with storage space, digital video recorder, trunk entry guard, and trunk tray that’s easy to install and clean.
