Subaru BRZ will not be discontinued; the next-gen model is well on course
KUALA LUMPUR: A day after the sad news about the axing of next-gen Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ came out, Toyota announced that it would not discontinue the 86 sports car. And now, Subaru has appeared on the same page, saying that the next-gen BRZ will happen definitely. However, there are no further details revealed as of now.
After the introduction of A90 Supra, it is very much justifiable to expect the next-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. Both the cars have been in the market since 2013.
Previously, there was a news that the two models would be discontinued as both the companies have decided to grow on different development strategies. But both Toyota and Subaru have mentioned that they have no such plans to axe these models in the foreseeable future.
To confirm the news, the US spokesperson of Toyota said “Toyota is committed to building exciting vehicles, including sports cars. The 86 has been in the Toyota family since 2013 and the plan is that it will continue to be a part of Toyota’s sports car line-up.”
Subaru also mentioned the same thing by saying, “We are moving ahead with a next-generation Subaru BRZ, but have no further details at this time.”
The Subaru BRZ received a facelift in 2017 for the Malaysian market and is powered by a similar engine with the same power and torque output.
