Leapmotor leads NEV start-ups in China; D19 flagship SUV coming soon

KUALA LUMPUR: After closing 2025 on a strong note, Leapmotor continues to strengthen its market leadership in China this year as well. The brand ranked No. 1 among new energy vehicle (NEV) start-ups in March and the first quarter of 2026. 

Leapmotor sold a total of 50,029 vehicles (including both domestic and export sales) in March 2026, representing a year-on-year growth of  34.87%. In the first quarter, sales reached 110,155 units, 25.82% more than deliveries in the same period last year.

To sustain this growth momentum, the automaker is accelerating the introduction of new models, including. 

• Leapmotor D19, the brand's flagship SUV, is set to be officially unveiled on April 16
• Lafa 5 Ultra (known as B05 globally), a rear-wheel-drive compact EV, will be revealed at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, which is developed in collaboration with Stellantis’ European engineering team.
• Leapmotor A05 compact EV, whose first photos were revealed in March 2026

Along with that, Leapmotor recently revealed the A10 (known as the B03X globally), a compact electric SUV, and the D99, a luxury electric MPV, in China. Collectively, all these upcoming models are expected to contribute approximately 60% of Leapmotor’s total annual sales.

Overall, Leapmotor aims to become a leading, accessible player in the smart electric vehicle market with its intensive product rollout and continued deployment of advanced technologies.

Leapmotor EVs in Malaysia

Stellantis officially introduced the Leapmotor brand in Malaysia in 2024. The NEV brand offers the C10 PLUS D-segment electric SUV and B10 C-segment electric SUV, with starting prices of RM 148,000 and RM 107,800, respectively.
