The New Porsche 911 Targa 4S and The Face Lifted Cayenne GTS, Now in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: It is said that Porsche drivers are arrogant, and the introduction of the new Porsche 911 Targa 4S for the Malaysian market at its new Sungai Besi showroom has given them an extra chance. Joining the league of 911 models on sale in Malaysia, this car has its own unique flavour of designing. The car retains all the features of its legendary model with a dash of modernity that includes relatively bulbous front end fixed with bi- xenon headlights, tapers into a squat rear end with slim LED taillight.
Going from convertible to a coupe and vice-versa takes just 19 seconds. With the push of a button, the entire rear window assembly pops up to expose a storage compartment beneath it. A wind deflector is accommodated into the cowl panel frame with an intention of reducing buffering and wind noise. The heated rear window is made from laminated glass system and the aluminum panel of the Targa bar wraps the steel rollover protection system.
Being an all-wheel drive model, it hides beneath its rear bonnet, a 3.8 litre flat- six engine pumping out 400 hp of power at 7400 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 5600 rpm. A choice is offered to either club it with a seven-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. With the second choice, it can sprint from 0 to 100 in mere 4.6 seconds and can touch a top speed of 294 kph. The manual completes the sprint in 4.8 seconds and tops out at 296 kph.
One can paint the world red with the introduction of the Porsche Cayenne facelifted by SDAP. The beautification on both exterior and interior are relatively moderate. The new air blades are featured on the outer edges of the air intakes while the LED headlights are more upbeat. Additional touches include revised tail lights and slightly restyled rear bumper and 21-inch gloss black multi-spoke alloy wheels. Inside it, a 918 Spyder-esque multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters remain standard. While the rear seats have been reworked to deliver greater comfort.
The energy to this beauty is given by a 3.6 litre V6 engine which is efficient to generate 300 to 440 hp of power and 400 to 600 Nm of torque. When mated with eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, it darts from 0 to 100 in exact 5.2 seconds and attain the top speed of 262 km/h. The figures of fuel economy are decent too which reads as 10 km/l with CO2 pegged at 234 g/km.
It is time for the Malaysians to crack open the champagne bottle.
