The battery pack capacity and range for the Ora Cat EV have not been revealed yet. What are the upcoming Ora EVs?
The Ora Cat is a part of the brand’s broader expansion strategy, with four new Ora models planned in the near term.As per the leaked images, it looks like the higher-riding version of the Ora Good Cat hatchback, and is likely to be called the Ora Cat in China and the Ora 5/Ora i5 in global markets.
Ora Cat SUV: What do we know so far
The Ora Cat is a compact SUV, measuring 4471 mm in length, 1833 mm in width, and 1641 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2720 mm. Compared to the Good Cat hatch, it is 236 mm longer, 58 mm wider, and has a 70 mm longer wheelbase. These dimensions put it in direct competition with the MG S5 EV.
Speaking of the design, the electric SUV retains Ora’s hatchback styling with curvaceous body lines, a pair of simple round headlamps and a refreshed bonnet that is now positioned slightly lower than the outer corners of the front guards.
The upper bumper has a smooth finish with a stronger horizontal crease line while the lower one incorporates striking air intake and tall side inlets. The rear profile looks very similar to the hatchback, featuring a clamshell-style tailgate with horizontal tail lights positioned under the rear window. The extra lights are also available on the bumper.
The leaked shots further confirm that the EV will come with a panoramic roof, lidar, and a rear camera as optional features.
According to the MIIT regulatory filings, the upcoming Ora EV will be offered with a single electric motor generating a maximum power of 150 kW and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from GWM subsidiary SVOLT.
The new GWM Ora Cat SUV is expected to hit Chinese roads sometime in 2025, with other global markets likely to follow soon after.
