Toyota GT86 Blackline Limited Edition launched in Australia

Kuala Lumpur: The Japanese automaker is all set to release its limited edition GT86 car on the Australian soil. This launch is a part of Toyota's 6-month countdown which will feature Toyota 86 Racing Series by releasing a special-edition version of the 86 for the Australian market.

The car is known as Toyota 86 Blackline Edition, which is based on the top-of-the-line 86 GTS. As the name go the GT68 is running on the racing genes of the company featuring a subtle body kit with gloss black 17-inch alloy wheels and distinctive red highlights in the sporty black interior. The car receives its special-edition name owing to the twin black stripes on the roof and bonnet which are thoroughly accentuated by the model’s “white liquid” exterior paint colour.

The sportiness clearly injected on every angle in this car has been sourced from Toyota’s engineering and motorsport partner TRD which includes the front spoiler, side skirts, three-piece rear spoiler, rear lower bumper and fender garnishes.Apart from these the Toyota 86 Blackline Edition also include auto-levelling HID headlamps, front foglamps, LED daytime running lamps and keyless smart entry.

On the inside the Toyota 86 Blackline Edition features unique splashes of red on the seats, steering wheel, gearshift knob, handbrake lever and door grips. The car is loaded with advanced comfort features such as dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, keyless smart start, leather-accented front seats with Alcantara inserts and aluminium pedals as a standard feature.

Besides that the car is loaded with a 6.1-inch touch screen that displays all vital information on the screen like the satellite navigation with live traffic updates, reversing camera image and audio interface.

Beneath the bonnet, the car is powered by a 147kW, 205Nm 2.0-litre direct injection four-cylinder engine coupled with a choice of 6-speed transmissions.

The company is set to produce only 450 units of the 86 Blackline Edition cars which will include 250 with manual transmission and 200 with automatic. The 86 Blackline edition will be available starting at 37,990 AUD (RM116, 322) for the manual variants, and 40,490 AUD (RM123, 977) for the automatic.

Despite being a biotech professional, Sanchit Agarwal's daydreams of driving a Ferrari and chasing cars in a Grand Prix made him jump into automotive journalism. His childhood craving for the cars started with Hot wheels toys which led him to create pseudo cars on his own. When people loved playing outdoor sports, Sanchit was stuck to his racing video games hidden in a closet. The torque of his creative writing coupled with his passion for moving machines pushed him into Carbay's garage. Sanchit also wonders's, why is he writing this as a third person.
