Up to 16 roads will be closed this weekend for OCBC's Cycle Kuala Lumpur 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Seventeen key roads in the heart of Kuala Lumpur will be temporarily closed to traffic to accommodate the OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur (KL) 2024 event on Sunday, March 3.

  • According to Bernama's report, the affected roads include notable arteries such as Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Leboh Ampang, and Jalan Sultan Ismail, among others, spanning the central business district and vital city connectors.

    Deputy Chief of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Supt Suffian Abdullah, assured that extensive preparations are underway to ensure a smooth operation of road closures.

    “Just like last year, PDRM (Polis Diraja Malaysia) will assist in the management of traffic flow. The road closure will start from 6.30am to 9am and done in stages," he explained during the announcement of the traffic management strategy for the upcoming cycling event.

    In addition, Julius Evanson from OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the 8th iteration of the OCBC Cycle KL challenge, noting an impressive turnout of 2,700 cyclists set to embark from Dataran Merdeka.

    The event will feature two competitive distances: a 42km ride for seasoned cyclists and a 21km journey for those aged 18 and older. "Among the entrants, 800 to 900 cyclists have signed up for the 42km distance, underscoring its popularity," Evanson added.
