X253 Mercedes-Benz GLC facelift launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian market has witnessed the arrival of facelift X253 Mercedes-Benz GLC, which is offered in two variants to the customer. It was first revealed earlier this year in February. The SUV gets revised styling along with a list of new and improved and equipment.

This new lineup consists of GLC 200 and GLC 300 AMG, which are offered with four years warranty. The GLC’s familiar profile is retained in this newer generation of the vehicle but the front end now carries a reshaped grille and the headlamps have become slimmer and trapezoidal in shape.

The other changes that can be noticed in the car are its taillights which are now sport ring-shaped graphics, similar to the larger GLE. The bumpers have been reprofiled to carry different designs depending on the equipment packages that are paired with the facelift.

The GLC 200 is offered with off-road exterior package that includes a chrome skid plate along with a front bumper that carries a larger approach angle. The rear end of the vehicle gets dual exhaust notes paired with a twin-louvre grille and a set of 20-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels.

On the other hand, the GLC 300 consists of a more aggressive-looking front bumper with the AMG line exterior. This variant of the car comes with a panoramic sunroof along with the night package with less chrome work on the rear apron. The rims carry a sportier 20-inch AMG five-twin spoke alloys.

Both the variants are powered by an M264 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces a maximum of 194hp and generates peak torque of up to 320Nm. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine comes mated with a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automated transmission as default, with a 4Matic being standard on the GLC 300.

The infotainment system consists of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience paired with a 10.25 touchscreen, which is identical and new on both the variants. The safety feature consists of Active Brake Assist, Blind Sport Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, cruise control, Pre-Safe and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
