Hyundai Stargazer: Variants explained – Which one should you choose?

Hyundai Motor Malaysia has launched its new MPV, the Stargazer, in the local market, competing in one of the country’s most competitive segments against established players like the Perodua Alza, Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Veloz. 

The Stargazer is available in three variants – Style, Prime and X in Malaysia, offering different levels of space, connectivity and comfort to suit a range of family needs. In today’s story, we'll compare these variants in detail to help prospective customers make an informed decision.

As we can see, the Stargazer’s price in Malaysia starts from RM 99,800 and goes up to RM 121,800. At its entry price, the Hyundai MPV sits close to key rivals, including the Veloz and Xpander, priced at RM 95,000 and RM 99,980, respectively. However, unlike these two locally-assembled models, the Stargazer is fully imported from Indonesia. 

The early bird package worth RM4,600 is available for the first 800 buyers, offering an eight-year/160,000 km warranty and four years of free scheduled servicing. On top of that, existing Hyundai customers will also get an additional RM 1,000 rebate.

In terms of size, both Style and Prime variants measure 4,575 mm in length and 1,780 mm in width, whereas the X trim is noticeably larger with 4,610 mm length and 1,820 mm width due to beefier bumpers. The top-spec variant is also the tallest in the range, reflecting its more SUV-inspired exterior styling. Despite these differences, all three variants retain the same 2,780-mm wheelbase.

All three variants of the Hyundai Stargazer are powered by the same 1.5-litre Smartstream G1.5 MPI naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and a peak torque of 144 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via  Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

As for features, the base-spec Style variant covers the basics, while the mid-spec Prime is a big step up in terms of technology and comfort. The top-spec X goes further by changing the seven-seater cabin into a six-seater with captain chairs in the second row and additional convenience features.

Which Hyundai Stargazer variant should you buy?

Choosing between the Stargazer Style, Prime and X ultimately comes down to your budget and driving needs.
