10 units of Honda CR-V handed over to JPJ by PLUS

KUALA LUMPUR: Road safety is a must, and we are seeing automakers taking essential steps in the direction regularly. Like Perodua with its Gear Up safety seat belt promotional pricing offer and how can we miss Volvo’s #SafeDrive campaign. Now, to make the highways safe as ever, PLUS has handed over ten Honda CR-Vs to the Road Transport Department, i.e., JPJ. According to PLUS MD Datuk Azman Ismail, this RM 1.3 million investment will help them to improve highway safety via regular enforcement by JPJ.

As per highway concessionaire, these constant efforts by PLUS, its collaboration with JPJ and other road safety initiatives have played a significant role in reducing road accidents on the Nort-South Expressway.

PLUS MD Datuk Azman Ismail, said, “The handing over of the vehicles to the department is an initiative to assist the authority in carrying out its monitoring and enforcement duties on the highways,”.

According to the data collected over the past few years on road accidents, the numbers have significantly dropped. With a total of 14,532 cases recorded in 2016, the figure dropped to 13,269 in 2018. Further, in the first quarter of 2019, a seven percent reduction had been recorded over the same time frame last year.

To help the department in conducting regular road safety programme along the North-South Expressway, two JPJ stations have been set up at PLUS’s Gunung Semaggol and Dengkil. A third enforcement station will soon be opened in Pagoh RSA.
