2019 Toyota Camry officially launched at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor officially launches the new 2019 Camry at the Kuala Lumpur Motor Show this year. This 8th-generation Camry is dubbed as the “Beautiful Monster” by UMWT for its stunningly gorgeous and dynamic appearance.

The Malaysia-spec Camry will not feature the newest 2.5-litre “Dynamic Force” powertrain mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that is sold in Thailand. The hybrid version of this new sedan, available in Thailand, is also not offered here for the time being. Instead, the vehicle derives its power from the 2.5-litre 2AR-FE four-cylinder motor coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Dual VVT-i and ACIS-packed engine can generate a maximum power reading of 184 PS and a peak torque of 235 Nm at 4,100 rpm.

The 2019 Toyota Camry is underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform to ensure more stability and safety. It is bigger in length, width, and height compared to its predecessor and the wheelbase is 2,825 mm. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. External highlights include dual-LED projector headlights, LED Hydrophilic auto retractable wing mirrors, dual exhaust tips, auto wipers, LED daytime running lights, rear lights, fog lamps, etc. One can choose from six colour options - Platinum White Pearl Mica, Silver Metallic, Graphite Metallic, Red Mica and Burning Black CS GF.

On the inside, the vehicle is techno-savvy with eight-way power front seats, dashcam, nine-speaker JBL branded sound system, an eight-inch touchscreen display with navigation facility, Qi wireless smartphone charger, a ten-inch colour head-up display, and a seven-inch colour multi-info display.

Toyota Safety Sense suite is offered to ensure maximum possible safety. This includes Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Pre-collision System, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensor and many more.

This vehicle, fully imported from Thailand, is hitting the Malaysian auto market in its 2.5V variant only and will bear a price tag of RM 189,900 on-the-road without insurance. It is expected that the 2.0L variant might also join the lineup in near future.
