2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee new renderings appeared

KUALA LUMPUR: The upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee has been in talks for a while now. Firstly, it has been spied in June this year, and later on, some unofficial renderings appeared on the internet. The recent news around this semi-luxury Jeep nameplate is again the rendered images, which are created by folks at motor1.com.

According to the US publication, these are based on recent spy shots and the Grand Wagoneer concept model that was unveiled last month, with the brand’s new design language. The experts further improved the renderings with the help of fresh information received from “some trusted sources."

With a claim of 99% accuracy, the Grand Cherokee new images feature a squarer exterior, highlighted by a bigger seven-slot grille with the signature element flanked by the redesigned headlights. The sides continue with the chunky design, while the rear gets narrow wrap-around taillights and trapezoid exhaust outlets. The lower fascia looks remarkably similar to the Grand Wagoneer.

The interior of the upcoming Grand Cherokee is depicted as a very posh environment featuring wood trim on the dashboard and door panels. In terms of tech features, it is likely to carry 7.0- and 8.0-inch touchscreen displays, while a new 10.1-inch unit may come as an option. A new rotary gear selector could also be there with the ability to switch the transmission into a low range. Terrain Select drive modes are placed just next to it in the images. Overall, the cabin looks cleaner and simpler.

Regarding its technical specifications, nothing has been confirmed as of now, but the experts suggest a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol V6 mill as the entry-level option. Other choices might include a new 3.0-litre turbo petrol inline six-cylinder and a 5.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol V8. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also likely to be added.

About the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee price, no information is available. But a price hike is expected on account of significant changes. Currently, the model is priced between RM 448,889 - RM 468,889 in the local market. Jeep has plans to launch its new SUV in 2021.
