KUALA LUMPUR: Chery is gearing up to introduce the Omoda 5 facelift in the Malaysian market with significant upgrades and a new name. Now called the Chery O5, the SUV has dropped the Omoda badging and will be marketed under the Chery umbrella, rather than Omoda | Jaecoo.

2025 Chery O5: What to expect
The Omoda 5 facelift or the Chery O5, made its global debut in Russia last year, followed by its arrival in Indonesia and Australia as the Chery C5, giving us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Malaysian-spec model.
- A new face: The new Omoda 5 facelift underpins Chery’s new “Art in Motion” design philosophy and features a new diamond-shaped front grille, new daytime running lights, and a redesigned X-shaped front bumper.
- New wheels: The Chery O5 will be equipped with a restyled pair of 18-inch alloy wheels, featuring gloss black accents.
- Enhanced driving dynamics: The upgraded Omoda 5 will also feature a new multi-link rear suspension setup, offering an enhanced driving experience.
- New DCT gearbox: Under the hood, the SUV is likely to get a new six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (replacing the CVT unit) paired with the same 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine found on the outgoing model.
- Same interior styling and feature kit: The interior design and layout of the cabin is likely to remain unchanged with a similar set of features, including dual 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and integrated infotainment unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, faux leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, wireless mobile charger, six airbags, 540-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS driver assistance suite.
- Higher pricing: Chery Malaysia offers the ongoing Omoda 5 at a price range of RM 99,800 to RM 118,800. This is likely to increase due to the refined looks and other mechanical upgrades.
