KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian electric vehicle market is growing at a faster pace, driven by government incentives for EV adoption and increasing consumer demand for sustainable transportation options. In the past few years, a number of non-national automakers (mostly Chinese) have launched their electric vehicles in the country, offering a wide range of selections to eco-conscious buyers. Well, the new Chinese automaker that seeks to capture a share of the growing electric vehicle market in the region is Leapmotor.

To build excitement around its first EV, Stellantis Malaysia hosted a unique Leapmotor C10 24-hour KOL Challenge over the weekend at Plaza Arkadia in Desa Park City.

The event featured three popular KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) - Iman Kamil, Shawn Lee, and Jayce Tay, who were challenged to live and spend 24 hours in the all-new electric Leapmotor C10. They were allowed six breaks for food and restroom needs.
The 24-hour event was streamed live on YouTube, attracting 5,089 views. Viewers were actively engaged, with 3,231 comments in the chat, where they sent supportive messages to their favourite influencers throughout the livestream.
The influencers spent 24 hours inside their own C10 EVs, beginning at 10 am on Saturday and concluding at 10 am the following day. During the challenge, KOLs took part in various fun activities, aimed to showcase the innovative features of the EV and engage viewers by showcasing its comfort and functionality during an extended stay. These include-
- Guessing the number of storage spaces: Showcasing the EV’s practicality by emphasising its spacious and versatile storage options.
- Finding ways to remove unwanted scents inside the cabin: Highlighting the vehicle's advanced air purification system.
- A musical charade session: Showcasing the EV’s spaciousness and potential for social interaction.
- Locate hidden items using the 360-camera - Highlighting the C10’s advanced safety features.
- An interior decoration competition - Highlighting a personalised and comfortable driving experience for users.
KOLs also enjoyed a restful night inside the Leapmotor C10, thanks to its innovative full-flat folding seats that provide ample space for relaxation. The EV used the 69.9 kWh battery pack for air-conditioning and other systems like the infotainment unit. It is important to note here that only 30% of the battery was consumed overnight, which showcases the efficiency of its power management system.
The influencers earned points for these activities, and in the end, Iman Kamil emerged as the winner with 160 points. Shawn Lee got the second spot with 105 points, while Muachi secured third place with 95 points. As the champion of the 24-hour challenge, Iman won the opportunity to drive the Leapmotor C10 for three months.
A brief on the upcoming Leapmotor C10
The Leapmotor C10 is a sleek and premium electric car that will rival the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Proton eMas 7. It is built on the Leap 3.0 modular platform and features a rear-mounted electric motor generating a maximum power of 228 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm.
Feeding the motor is an in-house developed 69.9 kWh battery pack, which offers a range of 420 km on a single charge. The C10 can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds.
The C10 boasts an award-winning design and a minimalist, clean interior incorporating a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a fixed panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, a 12-speaker surround sound system, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, seven airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System with 16 key functions.
