All-new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Precisely nine months post its global reveal, Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur finally decided to include the 2018 Vintage to its lineup. This new model embarks the second-generation of the iconic Vantage and holds a whopping price tag of RM 1.6 million.

The new Aston Martin two-door coupe shares its aluminium structure with the DB11. However, it is to be noted that 70 percent of the components used in the new Vantage are unique, specially designed taking care of its requirements. As for the design language, it is way different for its elder sibling. And we find its athletic and sculptured shape resembling a lot with the bespoke DB10, the one created for the Bond movie, Spectre. All in all, the 2018 Vintage carries a striking design that features broad haunches, muscular flanks along with minimal front and rear overhangs.

On the inside, what we found different compared to the previous generation is the improved headroom and occupant space. The car also features an array of storage space including an hidden rack behind the seat along with a substantial double-tier storage area. As for its boot space it offers a capacity of 350-litre.

The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is a car for someone who likes his car loaded with features and the accompanying switches. Take a look at the centre tunnel, and you’ll understand. Under its smooth hood sits a massive 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill that has been sourced from Mercedes-AMG. This mill gets a lower set up in the car, and that’s due to the new engine mounts and wet sumps with a lower profile. Also, the tuning has been revised along with intake and exhaust, all done to provide for an AMG-styled character.

Contributing to its performance are present tech elements like speed-sensitive electric power steering, three drive modes (Sport, Sport Plus, and Track), and an adaptive damping system with Skyhook. Also, it is for the first time Aston Martin has tuned its car with an electronic locking rear differential that works side-by-side with the stability control.
