All-new 2021 Porsche Taycan Turismo EV launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Porsche Malaysia has welcomed a new member in its family, the new Taycan Turismo EV. This new introduction comes nearly a year after Porsche launched its first production EV the country.

Porsche is offering the Taycan Turismo EV in three variant options - the base Taycan 4 Cross Turismo model for RM 645,209, mid-spec Taycan 4S Cross Turismo for RM 728,727, and range-topping Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo for RM 968,928. So, the whole range of Porsche's latest EV is available under the million mark, all thanks to the SST exemption.

What's on offer?

Starting with the performance specs, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo e-motor pumps out 380 PS and 500 Nm, 476 PD with overboost. It completes a century sprint in 5.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 220 kmph. The mid-spec 4S Cross Turismo e-motor setup makes 490 PS and 650 Nm, 571 PS with overboost. The trim goes from 0 to 100 kmph mark in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 240 kmph. As for the range-topping model, the power and torque figure read 625 PS and 850 Nm, 680 PS with overboost. Century sprint here takes just 3.3 seconds and has a top-speed of 250 kmph.

Moving on, all the new Taycan Cross Turismo variants are equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive electric powertrain, and adaptive air suspension as standard. The 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus is also part of the standard kit which offers the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo a range of 437 km. As for the mid-spec and range-topping variants, the range reads 436 km and 425 km.

Further, adding to the EV's pros is the 20mm additional ground clearance with the Offroad Design package offering an extra 10 mm. With the latter, the Cross Turismo gets the 'Gravel' mode that would be perfect for a round of playful rallying around the estate.

As for the cabin spacing, the new Taycan Cross Turismo offers 47 mm more rear headroom over and above the standard Taycan. The boot space is expanded too, with a whopping 1,200-litre capacity with seats folded.

Overall the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is an all-around EV, and won't be easy to ignore by potential consumers.
