Auto Expo 2020: Hyundai Tucson Facelift unveiled

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai has revealed the facelift version of the midsize SUV at the Auto Expo that was due from quite some time now. Since its launch in India, this is the first time that the automaker has introduced a facelift. The launch is neither far, as the expected date coming out is some time in the months of March-April 2020.

As for the styling, the Tucson facelift gets a sharper cascading front grille that is flanked by fresh LED headlamps, sharper front bumper, a new set of dual-tone alloys, and redesigned LED taillights. The rear bumper has also been redesigned for a refreshed look. Other than that, nothing major has been tweaked.

Inside the cabin, it gets a refreshed dashboard that is accentuated by the presence of the floating infotainment system. The system is powered by BlueLink connected car technology with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Other notable features inside the car are cruise control, dual-zone climate control, auto headlamps and wipers, wireless phone charger, powered front seats, and keyless entry with push-button start.

On the safety front, the South Korean auto manufacturer has included features like an electronic stability program, hill-start assist, hill descent control, vehicle stability management, six airbags, and ABD with EBD as standard. However, on the higher-grade trims, you get additional support from an electric parking brake with an auto-hold function.

Powering the Tucson facelift are the same powertrains updated to meet the new BS6 emission norms. The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces a max power of 185 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm, while the 2.0-litre petrol is good for 152 PS and 200 Nm of power and torque respectively. Both the engines come mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. An option of AWD diesel variant is also present.

Some prominent rivals of the Tucson facelift in India are Jeep Compass, Skoda Karoq and VW T-ROC.
