BMW Malaysia introduces locally-assembled 3 Series

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW 3 Series officially made its local debut six months ago. And now BMW Malaysia has declared the introduction of the assembled-locally CKD version of the G20 BMW 3 Series. The sports sedan is in its seventh-generation and is traded in a single 330i M Sport model.

Moreover, it comes with an identical amount of equipment included in the fully-imported (CBU) unit. This clearly signifies that the cost of the car has dropped down a fair bit, as the vehicle is now retailing for RM 288,800 on-the-road excluding the insurance charges, which is RM 40,000 less than earlier. The price also includes a five-year or unlimited km warranty, a two-year tyre warranty, and a five-year free maintenance package, making it an absolute steal.

The exterior of the M Sport includes LED fog lights and mid-range adaptive LED headlights that not only looks stylish but is functional as well. It gets an18-inch Style 790 M double-spoke Orbit Grey alloy wheels, wrapped with run-flat tyres. Inside the cabin, it flaunts the range-topping BMW Live Cockpit Professional infotainment system. The infotainment system gets a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument display and a 10.25-inch centre screen.

The powertrain features the latest version of brands' B48 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor that generates a maximum power of 258 hp at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm. The mill is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, which helps the car to achieve the 0-100 mark in just 5.8 seconds. Moreover, the car is capable of returning a fuel economy of 17.24 to 16.39 kmpl. The Passive M Sport suspension handles the suspension duties.
