The Ford Ranger plug-in hybrid will be powered by a combination of a 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and an electric motor.
  • “The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will help customers step forward into an electrified future, with more confidence and capability than ever before, while keeping Ranger at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the mid-size pickup truck segment,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.

Let’s know the key highlights of the upcoming Ford Ranger plug-in hybrid truck -

    • The PHEV version of the vehicle will be powered by a combination of a 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and an electric motor
    • Although the automaker hasn't disclosed actual power numbers, it has stated that the setup will deliver greater torque than any other Ranger variant currently available in the market
    • The rechargeable battery of the vehicle will offer an all-electric range of 45 km (on the WLTP cycle), claims Ford

    • The upcoming Ford Ranger PHEV will come equipped with a Pro Power Onboard feature, enabling customers to run power tools and appliances via built-in outlets in the cargo bed and cabin, eliminating the need for generators

    • The pickup truck will also come with five selectable drive modes, the brand’s proven four-wheel drive off-road capability, and advanced driver-assistance features
    • An EV drive mode will also be available, giving drivers more flexibility in deciding how and when to use the EV battery power
    • Just like the ICE-powered versions, the maximum braked towing capacity of the PHEV trim is targeted at 3,500 kg

“Our customers want electrified vehicles that deliver strong performance and affordable cost of ownership without compromising what they love about their truck,” Schep said.

“The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is a best-of-both-worlds solution for work, play, and family – offering customers zero-tailpipe emission EV driving for short trips, or hybrid performance that delivers incredible off-road, payload and towing capabilities. And, with Pro Power Onboard for the first time, Ranger owners can power their work sites and campsites easily,” he added.
