Ford Ranger receives two new awards - 'Pick-up Truck of the Year' and 'Car of the Year'

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new next-gen Ford Ranger has grabbed two new accolades, which further solidifies its reputation in the world of pickup trucks. The Ranger received the title of 'Pick-up Truck of the Year,' while the Ranger Raptor earned the 'Car of the Year' award from the CarPlus Editor's Choice Award 2022-2023.

For those who are not aware, the CarPlus Editor’s Choice Award celebrates automotive excellence in Malaysia. It honours the most outstanding vehicles across various categories, including performance, design, innovation, and overall driving experience. For the 2022-2023 awards, nominations were selected from new models launched in the country between July 2022 - July 2023.

Upon receiving the new accolades, Turse Zuhair, Managing Director of Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford said, “We are humbled to have consistently received recognitions for the Next-Gen Ranger. As a quick recap, the new Ford Ranger launched in Malaysia in July last year. The lineup comprises a total of nine variants, from the base workhorse XL Single Cab to the premium lifestyle WildTrak and high-performance Ranger Raptor. The price begins at RM 98,888 and goes all the way up to RM 248,888.

The new Ford Ranger features an updated design language with enhanced aerodynamics and improved interior comfort. It comes equipped with a variety of powerful, efficient engines incorporating a host of cutting-edge technologies and an extensive package of safety features that set the standard in its category.

The next-gen Ranger Raptor, on the other hand, underpins the Ford’s Performance DNA and comes with two highly-tuned engine options - a 3.0-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 petrol delivering up to 397 PS and 583 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo Diesel with 210 PS and 500 Nm as rated levels of output. The latter offers an impressive fuel efficiency of 12.19 kmpl.
