Ford Ranger Wildtrak gets a new ‘Power Roller Shutter’

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4X4 becomes even more desirable, as it will now come with a standard ‘Power Roller Shutter’. The only drawback is that it has been introduced to the Philippines market in the ASEAN region. Ford Australia introduced the accessory a while back. And that makes us wonder, will we get it too?

What is the Ranger Wildtrak Power Roller Shutter?

Well, as the name suggests it is a power shutter for the cargo area. It can roll out or in via the key fob, a dashboard control, or a switch in the trunk bed. Also, as it is an OEM offering fully integrated into the pickup, it can only be opened once the doors are unlocked.

Ford has turned the Power Roller Shutter with the anti-pinch function, meaning the shutter will automatically stop and move backward once it detects any resistance while closing. Furthermore, it also comes with recessed channels along the side rails, thus making after-market customisation possible.

The best part is that it might seem like a fancy feature, but it is basically maintenance-free. As per Ford, all the buyer needs to do to ensure its proper functioning is keep the side rails clean and clear. It will be sufficient to keep the Power Roller Shutter in best-shape. Furthermore, a good silicone-based spray on the side rails once a while will promote smooth movement.

As mentioned above, Ford Philippines is offering the new Power Roller Shutter as a standard fitment in the 2021 Ranger Wildtrak 4X4. So, no additional cost is to be incurred by the buyer.
