Ford Ranger’s strong demand continues, second quarter sales increase by 7.5 percent

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford’s segment-defining pickup in Malaysia is the Ranger. It is not only one of the best-selling pickups available in the market, but also attracts a wide range of customers who are seeking a multipurpose vehicle that works for both on-and off-road.

Ranger's strong demand in Malaysia helped its 2nd quarter retail sales rose by 7.5 percent over the previous year. Thus, 1,556 more vehicles sold in 2018 compared to 2017. With a gain of 1.1 percentage points from the same quarter last year, the strong sales has helped the Ford Ranger increase its share in the pickup market to 15.4 percent.

According to Truong Kim Phong, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company, “The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger continues to earn the favour of customers across the country and build on its growing success in the market.”

By opening of two new facilities in East Malaysia this year, Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connexion have continued on their vision to expand the nationwide dealer network. For the Ford’s fast-growing customer base, these facilities are specially designed with company's global Brand@Retail standards that offer better sales and aftersales services. These new facilities based in East Malaysia are, Sime Darby Auto Connexion in Kuching and Sime Darby Auto Connexion in Kota Kinabalu.
