GIIAS 2018: Honda Civic Type R TCR, the ultimate mean machine unveiled

KUALA LUMPUR: The brand new Honda Brio’s debut at Honda’s 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) was a success. However, the car lost attention due to the ever so amazing Honda Civic. Not just Civic, the all-new Honda Civic Type R TCR race car that is the ultimate mean machine. The big achievement for Honda Company is that The Honda Civic Type R TCR Race car has made the road-going FK8 Type R look like a baby.

 

The Honda Civic Type R TCR first came into Limelight in March at the Geneva Motor Show. It is now going to take part in the launching of this year’s FIA World Touring car cup (WTCR), which is controlled by the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

The Civic Type R TCR fits in all the necessities laid by the TCR. The technical regulations of TCR are obtained from the TC1 norms, set by the WTCC. It states that the race cars should be four or five-door sedans or hatchbacks, be front-wheel drive and turbocharged powertrains should be there with a potential of approx. 1,750cc to 2,000cc but must have more than 355hp. The Civic meets all these requirements and has a lot more features too. The race car is also equipped with many aerodynamic components that include a large rear wing and a full body kit. A roll cage furnished interior is all that is needed for a quality racing car. The front splitter and vast wings give the car a beautiful posture.

FIA allows manufacturers to support the competing teams but factory teams aren’t allowed. Due to this, the world cup titles up for grabs are for drivers and teams only and not for the manufacturers. So, the grasping opportunities are only for the drivers and the team.
The Honda Civic Type R TCR defeated the TCR genres of the Hyundai i30 N, Peugeot 308 GTI, VW Golf GTI and Audi RS3. This race car has really brought plenty of good luck to the Honda Company and no doubt that many more benefits are yet to come.
