KUALA LUMPUR: The Chery Omoda 5 EV has been in the news recently, one being for its recent preview at the Auto Shanghai 2023 and the other for its soon Malaysia debut. Now, it is again making headlines, as the Chinese automaker has revealed a few of its key specifications.

The new Chinese EV will be powered by a single motor pushing 221 hp of maximum power.

The above-mentioned setup would allow the EV to complete a century sprint in just 7.8 seconds. Other performance index are -

Platform and Design

The electric Chery Omoda 5 essentially looks like the regular Omoda 5, both from the outside and inside. However, there are a few design changes that help differentiate the two models. For instance -

• A lower grille
• A body-coloured side mirror
• Roof rails
• A slightly tweaked rear bumper design

Cabin amenities

The Chery Omoda 5 EV features a lighter color scheme compared to the regular model along with several advanced cabin amenities like -

• A floating twin-screen display
• A steering column-mounted gear selector
• Sony-branded speakers

Safety

The Omoda 5 EV comes equipped with a full suite of ADAS systems which includes - Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Prevention, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and more.

Price & Competitor

As of now the price of the Chery Omoda 5 EV is undercover but we are sure to give it a run to BYD Atto 3.
