Chery Tiggo 9 SUV launching in Malaysia on June 23

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery previewed its brand-new SUV, the Tiggo 9, in Malaysia last month, which is now ready for the official launch. The automaker’s recent social media teaser confirms that the SUV will hit the local shores on June 23, 2026.

Upcoming Chery Tiggo 9: Key highlights 

• The Tiggo 9 is a large, seven-seat SUV measuring 4,810 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,741 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. The boot space is measured at 449 litres, expandable up to 2,065 litres with the rear seats folded.

• The SUV follows the brand’s evolving design philosophy, featuring an octagonal 3D diamond-embossed front grille combined with large air intakes, sleek headlight clusters and dynamic flow DRL lighting. It rides on striking 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/50/R20 tyres.
• The Malaysian-spec Chery Tiggo 9 runs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, generating a maximum power of 256 PS and a peak torque of 390 Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and an intelligent AWD system. The fuel consumption is estimated at 8.3 litres per 100 km.

• It comes with a 7-mode drive system including Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Off-Road.
• The Tiggo 9 has one of the most technologically advanced cabins Chery offers in the market, featuring a 15.6-inch infotainment system, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a full-colour HD head-up display. 

• Other key highlights include - 50W wireless charging pad with a built-in cooling system, 14-speaker Sony audio system, 10-way power-adjustable and 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with memory, massage and ventilation functions, second-row ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning system and 64-colour ambient lighting system.
• Built with 85% high-strength steel and 21% hot-formed steel, the SUV offers enhanced protection and improved structural rigidity. It is packed with 10 airbags, a 540-degree panoramic camera system, and 23 ADAS features covering Level 2.5 autonomous driving support.
