KUALA LUMPUR: After Dashing, Jetour is ready to launch its second model in Malaysia, called the VT9. But, that’s not all from the Chery Group brand for us, as right after the VT9, the Jetour T1 and T2 models are earmarked for our shores.

    Jetour T2: What to expect?

    Dimensions 

    The Jetour T2 (known as the Traveller in China) is a rugged adventure SUV, built for off-road adventures. The 5-door vehicle measures 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, 1,880 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2800 mm. Compared to the T1, it is 79 mm longer, 39 mm wider, and 35 mm taller. 

    The minimum ground clearance and wading depth are 220 mm and 700 mm, respectively. The SUV has an approach angle of 28° approach angle and a departure angle of 30°. As for luggage, there is a spacious boot area measuring 580 litres.

    Design 

    Created by former Porsche designer Hakan Saracoglu, the Jetour T2 has a boxy and upright silhouette with strong character lines and sharp angles highlighting its rugged beauty. The aggressive front fascia incorporates a wide horizontal grille with bold “JETOUR” letters, vertically stacked LED headlights, and chunky bumper cladding. 

    Adding to the rugged yet stylish appearance are squared-off wheel arches, underbody skid plates and a contrasting roof. The equally striking rear end features robust bumper elements, vertical tail lights, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

    Engine and performance 

    Globally, the SUV comes in two petrol engines and two plug-in hybrid engine options, catering to the different needs of the customers. However, which drivetrain will make its way to Malaysia is yet to be announced.

    The Jetour T2 exudes a premium feel with high-quality fit and finish, soft-touch materials, and advanced features. The Malaysia-spec model is expected to come kitted with the following bits -

    Safety

    As for safety, the SUV is equipped with a steel cage body structure, an arrayed high-density roof, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The latter includes -
