Jetour T2 i-DM launched in Indonesia; Is Malaysia next?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 is running in full swing in Tangerang, Indonesia, with a range of exciting models on display. Jetour, one of the participating brands, launched the T2 i-DM at the event, which is equipped with the automaker’s intelligent Dual Mode technology.

The Jetour T2 i-DM is officially priced at Rp 688,000,000 (approximately equal to RM 155,523) in the Indonesian market.

Plug-in hybrid i-DM technology

The Indonesia-spec Jetour T2 i-DM comes equipped with advanced i-DM (intelligent dual-mode) technology, including a 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine system, two electric motors, and a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. Supplying the electrical energy is an 18.4 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack manufactured by CATL.

The PHEV setup can switch seamlessly between power sources for continuous performance and self-charging battery efficiency, and offers an eco-friendly ride with lower fuel consumption and emissions. This allows the vehicle to cruise up to 1,200 km on a single fuel tank and battery.

Unlike the pure gasoline-powered T2, the Jetour T2 i-DM has a front-wheel drive system with four driving modes - Sport, Eco, Normal, and Snow.

Rugged design with a durable body structure 

Despite adopting modern electrification technology, the SUV retains its rugged styling with a boxy silhouette, strong character lines and sharp angles. The body structure uses hardtop cage body monocoque construction with 80% high-strength steel, offering impressive body rigidity, which helps it better tackle uneven roads and light adventure trails.  

Supporting its adventure-oriented character are 20-inch wheels wrapped with 255/55 R20 tyres, a 28° approach angle, a 30° departure angle, and a minimum ground clearance of 210 mm.

Is Malaysia next in line to get the Jetour T2 i-DM?

Jetour Auto Malaysia showcased the T2 i-DM at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show and opened its ordering books, with an estimated price tag of RM 168,888. All signs point to the imminent launch of the plug-in hybrid SUV in the local market.
