KLIMS 2026: Jetour T1 rugged SUV previewed, coming to Malaysia with two variants from RM143,800

KUALA LUMPUR: Jetour Malaysia is using KLIMS 2026 as the platform to put the T1 in front of Malaysian buyers for the first time, previewing the rugged SUV ahead of its official launch later this year. Bookings are already open, and with estimated pricing starting from RM143,800, the T1 is shaping up to be one of the more interesting value propositions in the Malaysian SUV market right now.

The T1 is a five-seater compact SUV that sits below the more rugged, boxy T2 in Jetour's lineup. Where the T2 leans hard into off-road credentials, the T1 takes a somewhat more refined approach, offering a boxy but less extreme silhouette that should appeal to buyers who want the rugged aesthetic without compromising daily usability.

Two variants are available for Malaysia. The entry 1.5T 2WD is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 184 PS and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. The range-topping 2.0T XWD steps up to a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol producing 254 PS and 390 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Both engines are well-proven units carried over from Jetour's broader lineup.

Features and equipment

Equipment levels are generous for the price point. The 1.5T gets a 12.8-inch multimedia touchscreen with voice assistant, leatherette seats, a panoramic view monitoring system, six airbags, and ADAS Level 2 safety technology as standard. Step up to the 2.0T XWD and you gain a larger 15.6-inch display, a Sony premium nine-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable seats for both driver and front passenger.

The T1 has also achieved a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, which is a meaningful selling point in a market where safety credentials increasingly influence buying decisions.

Estimated pricing stands at RM143,800 for the 1.5T 2WD and RM153,800 for the 2.0T XWD. At those figures, the T1 takes direct aim at an increasingly competitive segment that includes the GWM Tank 300 HEV, Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, and the Toyota Rush. The T1's advantage is its powertrain options and equipment breadth relative to the asking price, particularly the 2.0T XWD which offers all-wheel drive and 254 PS for under RM155,000.

One thing worth noting is that apparently Malaysia is getting an all-black interior, rather than the mint green cabin option seen on international units, which seems like a good thing and shows Jetour’s understanding of our market. Tyres are regular road tyres rather than the all-terrain rubber fitted to the T2, which further reinforces the T1's positioning as a more road-focused proposition.

The Jetour T1 arrives in Malaysia at the right time, with the success of the Jetour T2. Malaysian buyers have shown a clear appetite for rugged-looking SUVs that do not require sacrificing everyday comfort, and the T1 sits neatly in that space. The 2.0T XWD in particular represents strong value at RM153,800, offering all-wheel drive and genuine performance numbers in a segment where those specifications typically cost considerably more.

Official launch pricing and on-sale dates are yet to be confirmed.
