Leapmotor B10 EV launching soon in China; Will Malaysia get it?

KUALA LUMPUR: Leapmotor introduced its new electric SUV, the B10, at the 2024 Paris Auto Show for the very first time. Now, almost three months later, the Stellantis-backed Chinese NEV maker has unveiled the detailed specifications of the electric SUV.

The Leapmotor B10 is the brand’s first global C-segment SUV, which slots between the Leapmotor C10 and Leapmotor T03. Set to launch in China soon, the EV will enter the European market in late 2025.

Leapmotor B10: Key highlights 

Drivetrain and range

Based on the automaker’s LEAP 3.5 architecture, the B10 will be offered in two electric motor options in China.

The EV is expected to get a battery pack of more than 60 kWh capacity, offering an estimated driving range of 400-500 km.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the Leapmotor B10 measures 4515 mm in length, 1885 mm in width, and 1655 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2735 mm. Compared to the Leapmotor C10 (a D-segment SUV), it is 224 mm smaller, 15 mm narrower, and 25 mm shorter and has a 90 mm shorter wheelbase.

Design 

The C-segment SUV looks sleek with clean lines and a dynamic silhouette, appealing to younger customers. The key design highlights are as follows - 

• Enclosed grille edged by split headlight clusters
• LED daytime running lights
• Large air intake
• Retractable door handles
• Relatively short front and rear overhangs
• Unique set of through-tail lights
• Roof spoiler

Features

The interior hosts an intuitive and customizable digital cockpit and smart connectivity features for an enhanced driving experience. These include -

• A large touchscreen infotainment unit supporting smart connectivity options and providing traffic updates in real-time
• An immersive audio system, offering a premium sound experience 
• Lidar-based autonomous driving capabilities
• AI voice assistance, handling navigation, entertainment, and other car functions
• Over-the-air updates, continuously improving the software performance for better results

 Will the Leapmotor B10 come to Malaysia?

Leapmotor brought the C10 EV to our shores in October last year, which is expected to be followed by the affordable T03. As far as the B10 arrival is concerned, no details are yet available. However, since the brand is geared up to expand its presence in the ASEAN region, we may expect it sometime next year.
