Leapmotor ends 2024 on high note; secures top NEV rankings in China

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the recently launched Chinese EV brands in Malaysia, Leapmotor, has been making headlines for several reasons lately, for good reasons, of course. This time around, the EV maker is in the news for its exceptional performance in the global market.

Leapmotor ended 2024 on a high note, grabbing third position in the most successful New Energy Vehicle (NEV) start-up category within brands established from the past decade. In terms of sales, it achieved seventh position amongst all established Chinese NEV automotive brands in China. 

The credit of this success is attributed to the brand’s innovative and futuristic EV lineup, keeping the cash registers ringing.

Leapmotor 2024 sales

Leapmotor sold a total of 293,724 EVs in 2024, showcasing its growing presence in the Chinese NEV market. In the month of December, the automaker clocked a significant milestone by delivering 42,517 units in China, which represents an impressive year-on-year growth of 128%.

Globally, Leapmotor International achieved a significant milestone, receiving over 3,165 customer orders and setting up 410 points of sale. 

A brief about Leapmotor

Founded in 2015, Leapmotor is a Chinese startup specialised in developing electric vehicles. As for the distribution and production of its EVs in global markets, the automaker signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Stellantis in October 2023 and formed Leapmotor International JV.

This venture leverages the strength of both companies, combining Leapmotor's innovative technology with Stellantis' extensive global reach and distribution network. The brand now operates in over 25 countries, including South Asia, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, and South America. 

In line with Stellantis’s 2030 Dare Forward strategy, Leapmotor International is committed to advancing low-carbon mobility in the ASEAN region. This commitment is reflected in the recent launch of the Leapmotor C10, which aims to meet the growing demand for sustainable vehicles in the region. It is one of the first Leapmotor EVs to take on the global stage.

Leapmotor C10 in Malaysia

Leapmotor launched the C10 electric SUV in Malaysia in October 2024. It is offered in a sole Design variant, priced at RM 159,000. The D-segment SUV comes powered by a 218 PS/320 Nm single electric motor and a 69.9 kWh battery pack offering a range of 424 km.

The Leapmotor C10 underpins the brand’s most sophisticated Leap 3.0 platform, which incorporates cutting-edge features like a central integrated electronic system and a Cell-to-Chassis design. The latter integrates the battery directly into the vehicle's chassis while eliminating the need for a separate battery pack.

The C10 comes equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems, offering ADAS Level 2 autonomous capabilities. It holds 5-star ratings from top independent programs like Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and China’s C-NCAP. 

Leapmotor Malaysia CNY 2025 promo 

To celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 (the year of Snake), Leapmotor Malaysia has rolled out a special promotion for the C10. The EV is offered at an exciting rebate of RM 10,000 for a limited only. Customers can either choose a cash rebate of RM 10k or a pack of goodies valued at RM 10,000. The offer is valid from now till 28 February 2025.

With the C10 and other future-forward EVs, Leapmotor is set to touch new heights in the coming year, targeting the 500,000 sales mark in 2025.
