Lexus Thailand gets the all-new RZ 450e; check the full details

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Lexus RZ 450e has made its way into the Thai market. The car made its global debut nearly a year ago and is the brand’s first BEV (battery electric vehicle).

Variants

The Thai-spec Lexus RZ 450e is offered in two trim options, namely Luxury and Premium. The table below gives the price detail.

RZ 450e Luxury	3.87 million baht (RM 505,544)
RZ 450e Premium	4.19 million baht (RM 547,346)

Range

The new Lexus BEV offers an estimated driving range of 470 km.

Mechanical tech

The car comes equipped with new DIRECT4 technology that is said to offer an unparalleled driving experience by responding intuitively to the driver’s intentions. It also effectively controls the driving force of all four wheels in a variety of driving situations.

Powertrain configuration

The BEV uses the brand’s e-Axle package that consists of a motor, gearbox, and an ECU. In the RZ, the kit operates in conjunction with the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive control system that adjusts the car’s traction, posture, and power distribution as per the driving conditions.

The front and rear motor makes 201 hp and 107 hp of power; with the total system output resting at 308 hp.

The e-motors come paired with a lithium-ion battery with 96 cells; it has a total capacity of 71.4 kWh. Positioned beneath the cabin, it is an integral part of the platform and contributes greatly to the BEV’s low center of gravity.

As per the automaker, the battery will retain more than 90% of its capacity with 10 years of driving.
