When will the locally assembled C-Class arrive in Malaysia?
The locally assembled C-Class is expected to arrive in mid-2022 in the country. Will the CKD C-Class differ from the fully imported model?
The CKD model is expected showcase a few changes in the specifications and price front.Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Vice-President Michael Jopp on the issue said, “The response for the C-Class has been great. All CBU units are sold out and we’re now collecting orders for the CKD (locally-assembled) model, which will arrive in H2 later this year.”

Yes, it is the same C-Class that recently made its debut in the country as a fully-imported unit and is offered in two variant options - the C 200 Avantgarde and the C 300 AMG Line. Priced at RM 288,334 and RM 330,681 respectively.
As for the upcoming, locally assembled Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the automaker hasn’t shared any details. However, we expect a few changes in the specifications and price. Now, it is to be noted that in mid-2022, the government will exempt the full 10% sales tax, so the price difference between the CBU and CKD C-Class might not be a significant one.

The ongoing CBU Mercedes-Benz C-Class sits on the automaker’s second-gen MRA 2 platform, making it 65 mm longer, 10 mm wider, and 9 mm lower than the previous model. The wheelbase is also now 25 mm longer than the old version.

As for the under the hood configuration, the C200 is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-Cyl turbo mill paired to a 48V electrical system and a belt-driven starter generator. Together they make 204 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. The C 300, on the other hand, gets a mild-hybrid 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo mill that pumps out 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque.

In both variants, the power is sent to the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission that made its way onto the C-Class with the recent facelift.
Performance-wise, the C 200 completes the century sprint in 7.3 seconds and attains a top speed of 246 kmph. The C 300 has a 0-100 kmph time of 6 seconds and a 250 kmph maximum speed.

Now, we have to wait for the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz C-Class and see what changes/revisions it gets. Are you excited?
