Malaysia gets the largest automotive complex in Southeast Asia

KUALA LUMPUR: A new automotive hub called Sime Darby Motors City has been launched by Sime Darby Motors. The facility is located in Ara Damansara township and is the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. Speaking of which, it spans across 8.6 acres with an overall built-up area of 1.3 million sq feet over eight levels.

Through Sime Darby Motors City, we are committed to playing an integral role in accelerating the growth of the regional automotive sector while contributing to the Malaysian economy,”

With a complex such big the Sime Darby Motors City houses not just one but ten flagship auto brands that it represents namely -

Along with the above-mentioned brands, the complex will also house a pre-owned division (Auto Selection). All the auto brands are located within six centres that benefit from the latest corporate identities with sufficient space to display 180 vehicles. Furthermore, it has 200 service bays and around 700 customer parking bays. An indoor facility under Auto Selection can further house 100 vehicles.

The facility also provides world-class after sales services via 60 Auto Bavaria specialists for MINI, BMW, and BMW Motorrad, 110 certified technicians, all with the highest level of certification by principal brands like the Zertifizierter Porsche Techniker Gold Certification.

Further enhancing the customer experience are facilities like -

  • Internet of Thing (IoT) technologies
  • Automated number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras
  • Contactless self-check-in system via a QR code system

Sime Darby Motors City is designed to be future-ready, i.e. for the age of electric vehicles. It gets specialized technicians and bays for EVs. Porsche gets a DC fast charger that delivers a maximum power of 238 PS. Besides, the complex is Green Building Index certified and comes with technologies that reduce the usage of paper.

Jeffrey Gan, managing director, retail and distribution for Malaysia, Sime Darby Motors said, “Sime Darby Motors City is truly a one-stop hub for customers shopping for their next vehicle. An enhanced customer experience awaits them with our digitalised, highly certified technicians, luxurious lounges, and ample covered parking spaces. Customers who visit us this weekend can also take advantage of the many attractive deals available and capitalise on the government’s vehicle sales tax exemption which will last until June 2021.”

An investment of RM 570 million has gone into making the Sime Darby Motors City both functional and appealing to the eye. It is located at No.6, Jalan PJU 1A/7, Ara Damansara, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
