Zhang’s time in the role is being framed as a heavy “build and transform” chapter. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia points to several initiatives delivered under her watch, including Southeast Asia’s first Retail of the Future Agency Model, and the launch of its flagship luxury retail format, Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar.
The company also says it broadened its product line-up to give customers more “luxury of choice”, expanded the EV charging ecosystem via partnerships, strengthened its regional go-to-market approach, and pushed profitable growth in Singapore, all while leaning harder into data and digital tools to shape the customer experience.
The foundation is set, and the company wants the next leader to scale it across the region rather than reinvent the wheel.
“It has been a privilege to lead Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Singapore, and I am immensely proud of what our team has achieved together across the region. I warmly welcome Martin Schulz as he steps into this pivotal role and have full confidence in his leadership as he takes the organisation into its next phase of growth across Southeast Asia. I look forward to supporting a smooth transition and continued momentum for the business", said Amanda Zhang, Senior Adviser, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia
As for Schulz, Mercedes-Benz is emphasising time served and regional familiarity. He has been with the company since 1999, and has previously held CEO roles in the UAE and Romania, alongside more than a decade in senior Asia-based management roles including stints covering Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea.
Most recently, he was based in Stuttgart, working in Sales and Marketing functions at headquarters.
“I am thrilled to return to Asia and join the teams in Malaysia and across the Southeast Asia region. This is a period of immense opportunities for Mercedes-Benz, and I am committed to working closely with our colleagues and valued retail partners to deliver exceptional customer experiences, products, and services, and reinforce our leadership in luxury mobility across this vibrant region. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Amanda and her team for their outstanding achievements, her support in ensuring a smooth transition, and her ongoing guidance on key strategic initiatives for our business in Southeast Asia@, said Martin Schulz, CEO & President, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia.
