Mercedes-Benz unveils the new facelifted X253 GLC
KUALA LUMPUR: Just a day after teasing the facelifted X253 GLC, Mercedes has now unveiled the SUV completely. Surprisingly, the changes in comparison to its predecessor are more than we had expected. The German global automobile brand has done a lot of modifications, especially on the exterior of the SUV.
The front of the car features a metal grille with silver paint outline and grey colored surface, on which floats the brand’s logo. The bumper gets a major tweak with an improved guard that contains three large holes and its junction with the grille carries the number plate. The headlights are now a bit narrower, featuring standard LED technology with the new DRL running along the border. Buyers can also opt for the LED headlamps with multibeam technology.
The back of the SUV looks more revamped. It comes with a completely renovated rear bumper with chrome skid plate and retains the exhaust exits as an integrated part of it at either side. Moving upward, we can see the taillights designed with oval rings, and they are stretched a bit toward the side.
One of the major upgrades that the car gets in the interior is the highly functional Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) for the infotainment system along with a voice control system having “Hey Mercedes” as its activation command. Furthermore, the 7-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen panel can be used for system operation with gesture control features. There’s an option to have the overlay video function that can display navigation maps over the feed from the front-facing camera, allowing the driver to get accurate information of the surrounding.
The X253 GLC comes with 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre OM654 turbodiesel engine options. The petrol variants arrive in two tuning options, GLC 200 and GLC 300, offering 197 hp/250 Nm and 258hp/370Nm, respectively. The diesel engine, on the other hand, arrives with three versions of power and torque output namely GLC 200 d, GLC 220 d, and GLC 300 d, delivering 163 hp/360 Nm, 194 hp/400 Nm, and 245 hp/500 Nm, respectively. The petrol variants also get the EQ Boost mild hybrid system
