MG5 X Edition and MG4 101 Edition debut in Malaysia; exciting year-end deals on offer

KUALA LUMPUR: MG has been making significant strides in Malaysia. Alongside announcing its local assembly plans, the automaker has recently slashed the prices of its two EVs (MG4 and MG S5) to make EV ownership more attainable for Malaysians. And it did not stop there, the brand has now introduced special edition versions of its models.

We are talking about the latest avatars of the MG5 and MG4, named as MG5 X Edition and MG4 101 Edition. These two new special editions made their official debut at the MG ‘Dare to Love’ Roadshow in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya (LG Floor, West Court), happening from 29 October to 2 November 2025.

MG5 X Edition 

Priced at RM 96,388, the MG5 X Edition adds a bold accessory package to the popular and spacious B-segment sedan. The package includes the following accessories backed by a one-year warranty  - 

• Gloss black accents on the front, rear and side skirts, a trunk spoiler
• “X Edition” scuff plates
• Front + rear dashcams (with a 64 GB SD card)

Notably, bookings are now open for the MG5 X Edition, exclusively available to the first 300 owners.

In terms of mechanicals, the sedan remains the same as before. It is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine kicking out a maximum power of 114 PS and a peak torque of 150 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT with eight virtual speeds. 

Feature kit continues to include - LED headlamps, 17-inch wheels, 7-inch instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather seats, 360° camera, six airbags, Digital Air Conditioning, XDS electronic differential system, lane change assist, blind spot detection, and rear cross-traffic.

MG4 101 Edition 

As the name suggests, the MG4 101 Edition commemorates the brand’s 101st anniversary. Priced at RM 129,536 (on-the-road without insurance), the special version is based on the Lux Extended Range and features the following exclusive bits - 

• Distinctive Union Jack roof design
• Exclusive “One of one” decal 
• White decal with ‘101 Edition’ under the side mirror
• Dynamic Red and Holborn Blue exterior, with dual-tone interior

Under the skin lies a rear electric motor delivering 245 PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 77-kWh NCM battery, which offers a cruising range of 520 km.
