MINI 1965 Victory Edition, JCW GP Inspired Edition launched in Malaysia, from RM230,888

KUALA LUMPUR: MINI Malaysia has launched two new special edition models in Malaysia, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition and the MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition, both inspired by the brand’s motorsport history.

The two are based on existing John Cooper Works models, with exclusive styling and trim details added to set them apart.

The MINI 1965 Victory Edition is based on the all-electric MINI John Cooper Works, and references the classic Mini Cooper S that won the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally with Timo Mäkinen.

It comes in Chili Red with a white stripe running from the bonnet to the rear, white 52 door graphics, and 1965 stickers on the C-pillars. Other changes include 18-inch JCW Mastery Spoke wheels in black, commemorative door sills, “1965” lettering inside the cabin, and a special key cap. Power comes from an electric motor making 190 kW (258 hp) and 350 Nm of torque.

The MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition is based on the petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works, and takes its cues from the third-generation MINI GP from 2021.

It gets Racing Grey metallic paint, a full JCW Aero Kit, a JCW rear spoiler, front, side and rear winglets, GP-inspired exterior stickers, GP-themed entry sills, unique floor mats, a special key cap, and dedicated wheel hub caps. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine producing 170 kW (231 hp) and 380 Nm of torque.

In Malaysia, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition is priced at RM230,888, or RM237,188 with MINI Service & Repair Inclusive. The MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition is priced at RM333,888, or RM345,988 with MINI Service & Repair Inclusive. All prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

MINI says the two special editions are meant to celebrate key moments in the brand’s performance history.

Both models also come with MINI Malaysia’s roadside assistance and financing packages. Estimated monthly instalments start from RM2,474 for the 1965 Victory Edition and RM3,207 for the GP Inspired Edition, based on a 75% loan over five years.
