MINI Cooper S Oxford Edition launched in Malaysia, six units only at RM289,888
KUALA LUMPUR: MINI Malaysia has launched the new MINI Cooper S Oxford Edition, and it is worth being clear about what this is before the Union Jack roof does its job on Instagram.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much is the MINI Cooper S Oxford Edition in Malaysia?
RM289,888 on the road without insurance, with the standard two-year unlimited mileage warranty. With the MINI Service and Repair Inclusive package it rises to RM300,288.What is different about the Oxford Edition?
Cosmetics only. Union Jack roof and bonnet graphic, rear signature with Union Jack detailing, Oxford Edition hub caps and valve caps, Union Jack steering wheel badge, entry sill and floor mat detailing, and an Oxford Edition key cap. This is a cosmetic special edition built on the Cooper S 3 Door that is already on sale in Malaysia. No extra power, no chassis changes, no new hardware.
What you get is a graphics package, some Oxford badging, and the knowledge that only five other people in the country will have one.
Price is RM289,888 on the road without insurance, with the standard two-year unlimited mileage warranty. Go for the MINI Service and Repair Inclusive package and it becomes RM300,288.
The edition marks 25 years since the first modern MINI rolled off the line at Plant Oxford, the Cowley factory built on the site of the old Morris Motors works.
BMW bought the brand in 1994 and relaunched it there in 2001, so 2026 is the round-number anniversary. Plant Oxford is where the modern MINI actually comes from, even if the car in front of you was shipped to Malaysia fully imported from Germany.
Against the regular Cooper S 3 Door, currently listed at RM279,888, the Oxford Edition asks about RM10,000 more.
For that, the exterior gets a Union Jack roof and bonnet graphic, a rear signature with Union Jack detailing, plus Oxford Edition hub caps with matching valve caps.
Inside there is a Union Jack steering wheel badge, entry sill and floor mat detailing, and an Oxford Edition key cap. That is the full list.
Three colours are offered, each limited to two units: Chili Red, Indigo Sunset Blue and Blazing Blue. Six cars, three colours, two of each. If you have a preference, you are competing with one other person in the whole of Malaysia for it.
Under the clamshell bonnet sits the same B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 204 PS and 300 Nm, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch.
Zero to 100 km/h takes a claimed 6.6 seconds and top speed is 242 km/h. Standard Cooper S kit carries over, including the 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloys, the 9.4-inch circular OLED display running MINI OS 9, and Vescin upholstery.
So it drives exactly like a Cooper S. The F66 still has the low-slung, quick-witted feel MINI keeps calling go-kart handling, and it is one of the few small cars left that feels genuinely eager on a B-road.
MINI quotes RM2,773 a month on the Easy Drive plan based on a 75 percent loan over five years, or RM3,219 a month on Straight Line based on a 75 percent loan over seven years.
If the shorter tenure looking cheaper seems odd, that is how Easy Drive works. It defers part of the car's value as a Guaranteed Future Value, payable as an optional final lump sum at the end of the term.
Straight Line is conventional hire purchase with no balloon at the end. Ask your dealer for the final payment figure before comparing the two monthly numbers side by side.
The Oxford capsule
From early October 2026, MINI Malaysia will also sell an Oxford lifestyle collection: a Traveller bag, unisex tees, a cap, stickers and the MINI umbrella walking stick, finished in dark blue to match the Indigo Sunset Blue paint. Merchandise, in other words, but reasonably tasteful merchandise.
The standard package is a two-year unlimited mileage warranty. The RM300,288 version bundles MSRI, which extends that to four years unlimited mileage plus four years or 60,000 km of servicing. Five years of roadside assistance is included either way, reachable on 1800-88-8808, and service bookings can be made online at service.mini.my.
If you were already in a MINI showroom weighing up a Cooper S, RM10,000 for a Union Jack roof and a one-in-six build number is a personal decision, and resale on limited editions in Malaysia tends to hold up better than the regular car.
