New BYD Seal EV launching in Malaysia on August 22, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: It’s confirmed! The cryptic teaser BYD Malaysia dropped last week was for the updated BYD Seal, which is set to launch in Malaysia as soon as this Friday.

While no official details about the upcoming EV are available, we can refer to our neighbouring markets such as Singapore and Indonesia, where the new Seal went on sale earlier this year. 

2025 BYD Seal: What to expect?

Just like the existing version, the upcoming BYD Seal looks absolutely stunning with its sleek aerodynamic profile and has a luxurious tech-focussed interior, and a dynamic electric drivetrain on board.

The 2025 model year is expected to come with the following upgrades -

• Subtle exterior tweaks like new alloy wheel designs, the addition of a panoramic sunroof, and new colour options.
• Interior modifications including a new flat-bottom steering wheel, a large central floating control unit,  and a new colour scheme.
• A new DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control suspension system that adjusts the firmness of the shock absorbers in real time and offers improved handling and stability. 
• New comfort-enhancing features like include sunglasses holder, Digital key function via NFC and Bluetooth smart access feature for seamless, keyless entry and ignition

However, in terms of drivetrain setup, the upgraded Seal is likely to remain the same as the outgoing model. The existing options include - a single rear-wheel drive motor and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The former offers two different states of output - 204 PS / 310 Nm and 313 PS / 360 Nm. The AWD setup, on the contrary, is good for a maximum power of  530 PS and a peak torque of 670 Nm.

Two available battery packs are - 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh, offering a driving range between 460 km and 570 km.
