New Volvo EC40 Ultra: Key highlights
- The new EC40 variant is offered in the top-spec Ultra trim and features the brand’s second-gen, in-house developed rear electric motor. It delivers a maximum output of 238 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds.
- Feeding the e-motor is a 70-kWh high-voltage battery that offers up to 488 km driving range (on the WLTP cycle). With fast DC charging, the battery charges from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
- The new EC40 variant also benefits from a new Sand Dune exterior shade inspired by the dunes of Sweden’s west coast. First introduced with the EX90, this striking hue is offered as an option for the EC40 alongside other choices such as Aurora Silver, Onyx Black and Crystal White.
- The EC40 has a commanding road presence thanks to its impressive ride height, large wheels and sculpted arches. Giving the EV a modern and sporty look is a sleek, sloping roofline mated to distinctive, swooping tail lights.
- The leather-free interior of the upcoming EV features Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech trims. Adding to the luxury vibe are updated cutting-edge accents on the dashboard and door panels, and Volvo’s next-gen user interface with a 9-inch Google-built-in centre display and 12.3-inch driver’s display.
- Just like other Volvo EVs, the EC40 also underpins a reinforced structure and advanced driver assistance systems that prioritise safety for occupants in the car and road users around it.
Chris Tan, Sales Director of Volvo Car Malaysia commented, “As our second fully-electric model to be offered in Malaysia and the first crossover in Volvo’s BEV model range, the EC40 has a striking silhouette that embodies the best of our new, electric-inspired Scandinavian design language. Due to its popularity and customer demand, we now have both single and twin-motor variants to match a wider range of preferences and ownership commitments.”
