Ora Good Cat secures top spots in Green NCAP's Small Family and Electric Car categories

KUALA LUMPUR: Great Wall Motor’s electric compact car, the Ora Good Cat, continues to win accolades in global markets. Marketed as the Ora 03 in Europe, this EV has recently been announced as the overall winner in the “Small Family Car” and “Full Electric Car" categories during Green NCAP testing.

For those who are not familiar with it, Green NCAP is an independent testing organization that assesses the environmental impact and efficiency of vehicles. The assessment involves consideration of various factors such as tailpipe pollutant emissions, energy consumption efficiency, and greenhouse gas emissions, including those from fuel/energy production and supply. 

During the assessment, the Ora Good Cat/Ora 03 achieved an outstanding average score of 97% and earned the perfect 5-star Green rating, and has been declared the winner in both the above-mentioned categories. Additionally, the EV was also honoured with the 'Greener Choice' award in 2023 for its exceptionally low climate impact throughout its entire lifecycle.

Green NCAP praised ORA 03 for its “good efficiency under a variety of conditions” and mentioned that it “made use of its aerodynamic design and high charging efficiency, helping improve its overall consumption and reducing costs for the consumers”.

Ora Good Cat in Malaysia

GWM Ora Good Cat is offered in two variants in Malaysia - 400 Pro and 500 Ultra, priced at RM 139,800 and RM 169,800, respectively. These variants come equipped with the same 143 hp/210 Nm electric motor but different battery packs: 47.8-kWh and 63.1-kWh. The smaller unit offers a driving range of 400 km (on the NEDC cycle) while the bigger one can let you cruise up to 500 km on a single charge.
