Porsche cuts price of cars by RM 88,000 due to zero-rated GST

KUALA LUMPUR: The official importer of Porsche cars in Malaysia, SDAP (Sime Darby Auto Performance), has now revealed the prices of the company's models following the government’s announcement of zero-rated GST. These prices would be applicable to the cars until the previous SST (Sales and Service Tax) is back in place in around 2-3 months' time.

Two of the most popular models on the company’s lineup, the 718 Cayman, and the Panamera Turbo, have seen a significant reduction in the prices. The former had a starting price of RM 540,000 but now has been reduced to RM 509,434, a drop by over RM 30,000. The latter, which had a price tag starting from RM 1,550,000, is now RM 87,736 cheaper at RM 1,462,264. However, these prices are for the base variant only, without the inclusion of any accessories.

SDAP, as usual, is also offering four years of warranty and maintenance packages, which also includes complimentary parts, labor, and service. Apart from just the cars, the company will even be offering all parts or services at the authorized dealerships at the same zero-percent tax.

The Porsche 718 Cayman is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine which can put out a maximum power of 300 PS along with a peak torque of 380 Nm. On the other hand, the Panamera Turbo is a more powerful car and is powered by a 4.0-litre, eight-pot engine which can put out a maximum power of 550 PS and a humongous torque of 770 Nm. It can hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. However, it has an all-wheel-drive mechanism as opposed to the rear-wheel-drive of the 718 Cayman.

The return of the SST will see the tax slab being fixed at 10%, similar to what it was before the GST implementation.
