Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the luxury off-road SUV launched

KUALA LUMPUR: You may have known Rolls-Royce as a luxury grand tourer with estate sedans and convertibles. However, the British luxury car maker today launched its first-ever SUV, the 2019  Cullinan.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is an all-terrain SUV that's wrapped under the skin of a luxurious car. This new SUV has been named after the largest diamond to be found ever.

Despite being an SUV, Rolls-Royce has managed the Cullinan to look like any other luxury car in their line up with the short deck and long hood design. It also gets eyebrow-shaped DRLs over the rectangular headlamps. This, along with the brand’s signature “pantheon” front grille design adds a distinct front fascia. The SUV will ride on chunky 22-inch alloy wheels, which would add to the commanding standing.

At the rear, the windscreen has a sloping design despite the lower boot lid and bumper being straighter and sharper. Also, Rolls-Royce has fitted the Cullinan with coach doors that the company is famous for.

The cabin of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is designed with some of the best-handcrafted metal and woodwork along with premium leather upholstery. The dashboard is wrapped with 'Box Grain' black leather, which is a water-resistant and durable material. The lower portion of the dashboard, along with the centre console and the three-spoke steering wheel, get major wood design while the door armrest gets some inserts only.

Also, known for spoiling the cars with high-end tech features, Rolls-Royce adds the Cullinan with some amazing gears. Driver’s assists include pedestrian and wildlife detection warning, Night Vision and Vision Assist, and a four-camera system which will assist the all-around visibility and the bird’s eye view.

Under the hood, the 2019 Cullinan will be powered by the brand’s signature 6.75-litre V12 engine with twin-turbochargers. This motor will be producing a humongous power of 563 PS and a huge torque of 850 Nm. All-wheel-drive and all-wheel-steering will be given as standard.

This new Rolls-Royce Cullinan will be introduced in most of the markets by the last quarter of 2018. It would have a standard foreign price of USD 325,000, which is roughly RM 1,300,585.
