Spied: The All-New Subaru Forester Facelift

Kuala Lumpur: Just after its debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the all-new Subaru Forester was captured in Malaysia with a lot of camouflage. Although we wonder, why bother covering it up when it has been exposed for the entire world? Whatever may be the reason, it is being speculated that this could be a CKD prototype for the Subaru Forester facelift as the Subaru XV is already a locally-assembled model.

Although the car was heavily camouflaged, a lot of tweaks were noticeable. Towards the front fascia it features a reworked grille along with a new bumper as well. One can also find C-shaped daytime running lights which are standard on the Subaru BRZ, Legacy, Outback and WRX. At the rear end, the taillights also feature a revised internal graphic that goes in harmony with the aforementioned C-shaped daytime running lights. Apart from that, it is also anchored with a set of revised, two-tone aluminium wheels which come in an option of 17-inch or 18-inch size. Inside, it gets a new instrument panel that features a colour LCD multi-information display and SD navigation system. The driver’s seat gets memory function while rear seats come with heaters.

Beneath the hood, the engine options remain the same but some changes have been for an improvement in efficiency and performance. The naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre FB flat-four engine churns out a maximum power of 150 PS along with a peak torque of 198 Nm and delivers an impressive fuel economy of 16 km/l. While the more powerful 2.0-litre turbo engine delivers a maximum power of 240 PS along with a commanding torque of 350 Nm. Further these engines are mated with a CVT transmission with auto-step shift control.
