2017 Honda Civic is primed to recieve a 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC Turbo

Kuala Lumpur: Honda Europe has confirmed that the tenth-generation of Honda Civic releasing in 2017 will be the first to recieve the company’s all-new 1.0 and 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo engines. The all new 1.0 and 1.5 litre VTECH engines are a part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology range. However the 2.0 VTEC Turbo engine is already been featured in the Honda Civic Type R and will now continue to be served in 2017 Honda Civic as well.

The 2017 Honda Civic will feature two new downsized turbo petrol engines which were earlier announced in 2013. Both the engines will proffer a dynamic performance along with class-leading output and excellent fuel economy.

Honda 1.0 litre VTEC engine

The all new engines are structured on variable valve timing, along with direct injection. An all new turbocharging system has also been introduced in both the engines. This new technology will allow the new engines to perform on a low moment of inertia and high responsiveness, which as per Honda's claim achieves a good balance of power output compared to the conventional naturally-aspirated engines.

Honda 1.5 Litre VTEC engine

Honda has already made available the 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo unit in it's home country Japan. The engine is said to deliver a maximum power of 148 hp and 203 Nm of torque in the MPV models compared to the non-VTEC USDM Civic 1.5 turbo’s 174 hp and 220 Nm.

Sources suggest that Honda Civic 2017 in its tenth-generation will be a global model, with the same platform marketed across the globe. So far, the sedan has been unveiled for the US market, and we have a fair idea about this five-door hatchback version.

Although, the Malaysian model is still in a dubiety. We believe that it will be a sedan, but we don't know whether it will be a mirror of the US Civic’s 2.0 i-VTEC and 1.5-litre turbo options, or the European 1.0 and 1.5 litres VTEC Turbo units, or it can also be something altogether.
