2018 Renault Captur: Know its alternatives

The 2018 Renault Captur has been gaining plus points from various customers primarily for the way it looks. Renault has successfully pulled off a good move with this subcompact crossover; a segment that is witnessing fierce competition.

Renault’s planning is to snatch away a large portion of the segment with the help of Captur and it seems the plan is going to work because it is already Europe’s best selling crossover in its segment. Honda HR-V

The new facelifted Honda HR-V has been made a bit more desirable. The front fascia of the car has been given a few changes. It now features an even broader chrome slat that houses the brand logo. If you are looking to have more sportiness in your HR-V, then the RS variant is the one for you. The chrome slat at the front is done in black. The bumper is redesigned and fitted with LED fog lamps. We also get LED headlights.

The engine here is a 1.8-liter i-VTEC SOHC unit that produces 142 PS of max power at 6,500 revs and generates a peak torque of 172 Nm at 4,300 revs. It comes mated to a CVT gearbox which promises to deliver an optimal combination of performance and fuel efficiency.

Compared to the Renault Captur price of RM 102,844, the HR-V is available in Malaysia with a starting price of RM 92,545 for the base model. Mitsubishi ASX

If you are one of those who appreciates the simplicity behind the looks then the Mitsubishi ASX is the right car for you. The ASX has been around for many years and hasn’t received any major update but somehow it still manages to make a place for itself in the market. It features a simple design that is made to last a long time. Under its hood is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine which churns out 150 PS of max power and 197 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox in duty is a CVT unit.

You get the basic safety features on the Mitsubishi ASX. If you want to own one you will need to spend at least RM 112,400 for the 2 wheel drive variant and RM 126,739 for the 4 wheel drive model.

Mazda CX-3

Another good alternative to the Renault Captur is the Mazda CX-3. Mazda has worked wonders to make the latest model of the CX-3 what it is today. Based on Mazda’s “KODO” design language, the CX-3 is a fantastic-looking car. It features a stylish grille at the front with chrome surrounds that neatly insert into the headlights. The side view is kept busy with subtle character lines. The rear end of the car gets a stylish tail light cluster that demands attention. Mazda has also worked a great deal on the interior of the CX-3. The overall black theme brings in more confidence in you. It also looks quite sporty.
